PRE-SCHOOL
Large enough to be seen clearly and safe enough to
handle respectfully, these specially selected bugs demonstrate their amazing
ability to hold the attention of bouncy youngsters. BUGMAN Instructors entertain
the preschoolers while teaching them basic lessons about the Workings of the
World and Nature. Popular diversions such as “Insect-Aerobics”©
help focus the energy and excitement that is generated during BEE programs.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Living Arthropods are ideal aides for presenting
important concepts to students in all grades. Joy of BUGS! Programs provide a
preview, supplement, or review to existing insect and spider curriculums, and
stand alone as a close encounter with some very cool animals! Based on the
National Education Standards from the National Academy of Sciences and State
Education Frameworks, BEE program content exceeds most local standards.
Fascinating insights into the lives of bugs and engaging live performances make
a BUGMAN visit a memorable, affordable in-class field trip…. No bus – no
fuss!
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Middle school curriculums are often organized
around themes – insects don’t always seem to fit. But Arthropods come from
all over the world and are important parts of many cultures. BUGMAN Programs
include impressive specimens from the deserts and forests of Africa, South
America and the Southwestern United States. Arthropods are eaten, poisoned,
honored, worn as clothing, kept as pets (pet beetles can cost $100 or more in
Japan – and are available in vending machines!), used in art, feared, and
respected all over the world. Pick a theme – BUGMAN has bugs that can help
teach it!
HIGH SCHOOL and UNIVERSITY
Focused on National Standards, SATs and career
objectives, high-schoolers relish this opportunity to “have fun” while
experiencing memorable, inquiry-based lessons in Comparative Biology and
Physiology, Human Health and the Environment, Cultural Studies, Language Arts,
Agricultural Economics, and Ecology. More in-depth “courses” are available
and can be tailored to the content and structure of nearly any curriculum. A
non-standard –but highly effective – approach to the Standards!
