This is a female Banded Argiope Spider (Argiope trifasciata - Are-guy-O-pee)) - sometimes called a banded garden spider. She is sooo
beautiful! Unless you happen to be a grasshopper, in which case you will likely
be captured, wrapped up and eaten by her! Garden Spiders don't hurt people. When you see her in a photo like this,
she stands out like a sore thumb. But in a field of goldenrod or grasses, she
blends in so perfectly, is so cryptic, that you can hardly even see her.
